Anybody have and info on Thorpe and Hoberg Pocket Watches?
Nothing on Ebay Search active or inactive. Both dial and movement are marked Thorpe and Hoberg... Nothing in Complete Guide to Watches that I could find...I have a 16s, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dave -
If you can post here with a photo of the movement (and if possible the dial too) this will help tremendously in identification.
I don't recognize the name but I don't collect too far outside American pocketwatches, if it is American it could possibly be a "private-label" watch with an individual's name in place of the actual maker's.

found an interesting thread in Google search, look at this "www.awco.org/MWCo/Brochure/index.htm" gives a little of the history of the McIntyre Watch Co. and Fred McIntyre's stop at Thorpe and Hoberg in 1910 in Sioux City.

The movement looks a bit like the Omega private lablel Regina line.
Oddly enough one of my McIntyre Indian Territory watches looks quite a bit like it. The McIntyre is a small watch though.

I, too, thought of Omega/Regina at first, but this is not one of them, i believe. The OF Omegas have the wheels oriented as a complete mirror image of this OF watch. Also several details differ, s.a click shape, screw position etc

Well, it does not look like a Meylan. That was what they were pushing when Fred visited them in 1910.
Dave, did you pick up that the store was in Sioux City, IA? You might be able to find out a bit more about them from local historians there.

The public library and local newspapers are good to try. If there is a historical society in operation that is good also.
