So, I've tried a bunch of times and must be dense or slow or just not ticking properly.

Can anyone help explain to me how to get the links to my website to show up on my posts; along with any other standard signitures that I want to show up every time???

I've tried several times with little or no luck

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

Click here (http://www.nawcc-mb.com/navigating_the_board.htm) for a full set of instruction on using the message board.

I created this link by clicking on the Globe with link at the bottom and when the code was inserted into the post I just filled in the information I wanted to show up

By clicking the globe this was inserted into the post
and I changed it to

Creating a link in the signature is a little different. Please contact me off list and I will see if I can help. You should know you are just about at the max limit of character for a signature line.

is there a way of making the link 'stand out' more....

the 'click here' when buried in text against the background is easily missed....

Terry,

At this time I have done all I can do to make them stand out. I am however continuing to work on the problem and may have it resolved soon.

I have noticed the links really get hard to see if you have clicked them before (thus changing their color). I now try to emphasize any links in my posts by calling attention to it with arrows, as in:

see this --> [link] <--

This is a test . . to see if you can get them to show up in color with bbCode. Here is the 400-Day and Torsion Clock Forum (http://www.nawcc-mb.com/bbv2/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewforum;fid=7)

Edit comment: Didn't work first time with the bbCode for color outside the URL code. However, it DID WORK with the code INSIDE the URL. Example: {url=http://www.nawcc-mb.com/bbv2/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewforum;fid=7}{color=red}400-Day and Torsion Clock Forum{/color}{/url}. I have substituted the { } marks for brackets [ ] so you can see how it works.

Jeff, is it possible to put the color code into the permanent URL setup, leaving the user to modify the "click here" if they want to do so?

Why not do this? (http://www.nawcc-mb.com/bbv2/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewthread;fid=9;gtid=213469)

John,

Done.

If someone want to change the color of the link the can just change the color text.

Jeff, on the old site if I typed in a www. link to a website, it was automatically live. How do I make it live now?

Harold,

Please explain further. I just checked your profile and you do not have a website listed.

If you are talking about linking to a website, click on the globe icon with the chain in front of it.

Replace the word null with the website link where you see url=
Leave the color blue so the link will show up in blue
Change the word "Click Here" to anything you want the link to say.

Harold,

I believe this will be live...try this... this was a paste only..

it is live, but not enough contrast with the background... maybe another code tweak?????

Terry,

I think I'm going to leave it as is now. I can see the blue without the bold and I can see the live link without any special code. I can not make the live links any brighter because it causes other things on the site to change as well.

Yes, Jeff. If I wanted to link, say www.timesavers.com for someone looking for parts, the old board automatically made it a live link. I'll give it a shot.
I think I've got it.

Try again

Nope, still no luck. Once more

how I did it...

clicked the 'globe' with the chain link....
it opened a new smalll window...

i inserted the www.xxx beside of the http code and clicked ok.

or... if you click the globe, then cancel, the code is inserted in the message, just a matter of pasting the url over the word "null" in the code...

if you want to name the link, change the words click here to what ever word you want...

Timesavers Link (http://www.timesavers.com)

I just found the http://

must be in the code...

Harold, you need to have the http:// included for the link to work. If you click on the globe and then start typing when the box appears, you will overwrite the http:// www. that is already there. Without the lead-in it won't work.
