Thest,

Your Illinois watch with S/N 2061022 is an 18-size, 21-jewel, Grade "89" Model "6" from approx. 1908 (according to original factory production records). The Illinois Watch Co. made a total of 2,530 watches in this configuration between 1908 - 1915.

I believe the spelling should be "Emperor", and is one of the "Private Label" markings found on Illinois watches. This particular marking probably doesn't have any real significance or connection to an individual (whereas the P.L. "Geo. Washington" would have). The Illinois Watch Co. was famous for inscribing a huge variety of "Private Label" markings on their watches -- more than all other watch companies combined!

Your watch is adjusted to 3 positions, as well as to temperature and isochronism.

Many of the Illinois watches in his configuration had gold-inlaid damaskeening on the movement, although not all were finished that way.

I personally own a watch (S/N 2312977) which is identical to yours, and is also marked "Emperor", with gold-inlaid damaskeening in a checkerboard pattern.
