The book "Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World Volume 2" by Brian Loomes says that he was born in Ratby in 1746, was working in Barton-on-the-Beans by 1771 and died in 1816. He made both clocks and watches,

Thanks for the infomation. I had most of it. I bought a clock in England last month made by the Deacon's, most likely the nephew also Samuel. Samuel Snr. made watches for many years and I just wondered if anyone had seen one, how often and where do they show up etc. and would love a picture. Bob
