Waltham 16-size dials are pretty simple. The dial feet are in the same position for hunting or open-face configurations in the 1908, 1899 and 1888 models, and I believe also for the 1872 model. The 1908 and 1899 models are standard 16-size and the 1888 and 1872 have a slightly larger diameter. So, although the dial feet are the same the two older models do not switch well with the two newer models.
