Hi,
I have a Waltham 18 size, keywind "Broadway", model 1877 that is keeping great time and running at about 16,200 beats per hour. The serial number on the movement is 2,005,636 which dates it to about 1883. Based on that age, I thought the watch would be operating at the fast beat (18,000) rate, however, it is running real close 16,200 beats per hour and is keeping great time with perfect looking motion. Is this common for that model? Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

Ticker, I have a model 77 Broadway which I recently restored. It is SN 2,268,692, which puts it a bit later than yours. Mine is also coarse train (16.2K BPM). I have no idea when they made the complete switch to quick train. My guess is that they continued to put them out as long as they had a stock of the correct third wheels

Thanks Tom - You are probably right. Maybe the 3rd wheel department was a little too efficient - HA!
Thanks again.
