Hi folks,
I picked up a Rolex pocket watch today and was trying to see if I can get more information on it. It has 15 jewels and is housed in a sterling silver case.
The case is made by Dennison Watch Case Co. Ltd, and has hallmarks that date the silver to 1899, Birmingham. The case maker marks of A.L.D are in a rectangle with cut corners. I looked that one up and that seemed to date the case to after 1905. I guess the silver could have been assayed earlier then when the watch was made.
As far as the movement goes, I looked for serial numbers to date it and find "662" next to the balance bridge, and also the numbers "847414". I don't think that serial number is dating the watch to 1952 like my guides say.
The dial says Rolex at the top and "James Walker LTD" around the sub hand.
Would anyone have any more info on this watch? I am curious about the date. I did a small search on the internet and saw similar movements so I am pretty sure it is authentic.
Thanks in advance,
Ron
