View Full Version : Help me ID a Canadian Private Label
I picked up this watch today. 18 size DN movment, OF marked A.C. Riley Cayuga Ont. sn 2230611. 15j 3/4 plate OF with a very nice damsc pattern. Typical Canadian RR dial marked AC Riley Cayuga Ont with 24 hour numbers.
Will post pics once my batteries recharge.

Cary,
The movement looks to have been made by Omega. They exported large numbers of movements to Canada, both as private labels and under the "Brandt" or "Regina" names.
It appears that the case is not original to the movement, as there seems to be other screw marks present on the case rim.

I was going to guess Omega but I couldnt find a pic of any movment like it. The S/N range is about right for early 1900's.
I knew it was a recase, in a decent silveriod.
Thanks for the tip.

Cary,
That sure looks to be a 16-size to me, and Swiss. Cayuga is about 100 mi. south of Hamilton, Ontario, in the Niagara Peninsula, and just a few miles from the north shore of Lake Erie. I am unable to tell you if that is a railroad town or not. But I can say that your watch would not have been approved for railroad use in Canada. You don't give any information about the case, but it is likely of Canadian manufacture if it is original to the movement. The movement? About the only way to have a chance of identifying the maker would be with the dial off. Anyone else have an idea?
Doug S.
It looks like a 16 size but is American 18 size.
