Mdl 1870 Pin Set ?

I was wondering if any of the Waltham experts could lend some help on this watch. Serial number is 501252 and is a American Watch Co Crescent St. It is also marked Adjusted on the barrel bridge. It is stem wind and I believe pin set, as there is a small push piece on the rim that you push in and turn the crown to set. Never saw one like this.. I would like to know if someone could tell me how many were produced in this configuration...Case appears original, one set of screw marks and the push piece is fitted nicly into the rim...with normal wear.... Thanks
