Lemania stopwatch

I recently bought this Lemania stopwatch. Center is a split-second (rattrapante) timer controlled by the pusher to the left of the crown. The upper register counts up the minutes. Pushing the crown starts-stops-resets the stopwatch. The lower dial is a second hand that is always running. Anyone know the purpose of this continuously running second hand? Any other information on this stopwatch?
