Hello: I am looking for someone can tell me about my pocket watch. It is unusal, and I can't find one anywhere online like it. The Sn # is 233101. I was told it was a HamilTON RR Watch, lever set,2 TONE MOVEMENT. It is a private issue and marked on the dial W.F. Laraway and below that it says Burlington Route. The winding stem is at the 3 oclock position, but it is not in a hunter case. Inside the watch it is also ingraved W.F. Laraway, Special, Gleenwood Iowa, 21 Jewels. It is an 18s. If anyone can tell me something about this pocket watch please write. Thank You..

a very desirable RR named Hamilton--may we please have a scan?

Sounds like a very nice RR marked grade 941 Hamilton that you have there. The Burlington Route RR marking adds greatly to this watch's desirability, and the 2-tone movements are not common to 18 size Hamilton watches.

I would enjoy seeing this watch if you are able to post photos here and I am sure others would enjoy seeing it as well. If you have difficulty posting the images here I would be glad to help put these up and they could be sent to my fhansen21@yahoo.com email address.

Definately a very interesting sounding watch. Are the Burlington Route markings under the glaze and original to the dial?

If I remember correctly, at some point in time Laraway relocated from Glenwood, Ia to the Pacific Northwest. Over the years, I've seen numerous Hamilton and Illinois watches with the Laraway private label markings (from both locations). Many of the Hamilton's having 2tone movements, some with fancy dials. The Burlington Route dial markings however, are a first for me on one of the Laraway watches.

Like Fred and Jon, I would be very interested in seeing some images of both the dial and movement.

I have only seen one. It was in Utah. And it was rare.

And I could not get it purchased!

Great find! Very very desirable!
