Mike,
You've more than likely come across a Rockford "private label" movement made for a jeweler in Henderson Kentucky. A lot of our pocket watch guys collect the private label watches, imagine how excited a Rockford collector in Henderson would be over such a find!
Often the dial is private labeled as well, although we find it on dial, movement or as I said when it's really good, both.
On your serial number, it appears the first 114,000 Rockfords were !8-size, model 1 Key-Wind, Key-Set Hunter-Cased watches. Yours is evidently a very early one with that 44112 serial number! The jewel count is not given on the list I consulted.
The Keystone "Silveroid" case is a nickel-silver mix that makes for an especially durable case.
Hope this gets you started in watch collecting, don't be a stranger!
