According to the Waltham serial number list, 5918199 shows this to be a 16 size, model 1888, grade No 20, 7 jewel, stem wind, pendant set watch. It should be in a hunter case, but could be in an open face case. In both instances, the stem wind will be at 3 o'clock. It was produced are the 1892, 93 time frame.

Sylvia, recasing the watch would not change the relative position of the stem and the dial.
Perhpaps you misread the serial number and it is really 5,919,199. That would be a watch with the stem at 12:00. 5,914,199 would also have the stem at 12:00. Those are watches from the open face runs before and after the one you listed.

Where is the second hand on your watch? At 3 or 6? I was thinking maybe conversion dial??

Sylvia, that run is exactly the same except for the winding. The earlier run would have been 11J instead of 7J.

Sylvia, Not getting all the replys? Are you on webTV by any chance? Sometimes with that it stores and recalls the site address and does not update the info.
