I am told that the Geneva Seal Authority (GSA) keeps serial number records of watches onto which the Seal is stamped. The record for each timepiece includes the serial number and manufacture. It is also mentioned in various articles that there is a "Certificate of Authenticity" issued by the Authority, this is apparently done when the watch is first inspected. I also assume that the Certificate is given with the timepiece.
I have a pocketwatch of unknown manufacture with the stamp of the GSA. I am hoping they can indentify the maker.
Is there a procedure for obtaining the information from the GSA, and is there any liklihood that they would reissue a Certificate of Authenticity.
I have made an effort to contact them and ask for the info but so far nothing.
