Victor was a brand marketed by Adolf Schwob, NYC. The list of Schwob imports is quite impressive. It included Tavannes and CYMA brands but also some lower grades. It's hard to say where the "Victor" watches fit in.

The Victor brand goes back to May 22, 1883 under the original Schwob application. The brand was refiled in 1914 with a slightly different logo.

Thanks for the valuable info Samuel. I acquired the watch about 3-4 days ago and have been searching the NAWCC search engine and at times thought it was an early Westclox. The watch itself is a low jewel count, but is heavily constructed. I also thought that with the Chopard's patent, it might be a mark in watchmaking history. I know that the cylinder escapement is sometimes used in less expensive watches, but this one is well constructed. Thanks again, Wayne

By mid 19th C. Chopard is known to have supplied ebauche and finished movements to other manufacturers. So, it's anyone's guess as to whether yours is a complete Chopard movement.

There are some on this message board who have rather complete patent records...and the Chopard Pat of 12/6/1881 may give a clue. It is likely that the movement utilizes some part of the Chopard Patent and hence is stamped. You often see that with Breguet Patents.
