I posted about this a while ago, but I didn't have all the information I needed. Now that I have it:

Does anyone have or no of someplace I can get a lift spring for a hunter case made by the Philadelphia Case Co.? It's a size 16s and the serial number is 4343217.

The last time I posted, someone responded back that springs have to be fitted to their cases. My other question, then, is do I have to ship my case out to someone to have it fitted, or can I buy one right for my case and then have a local watchmaker fit it? I'm trying to avoid sending my case through the mail to a stranger, but I'm not completely against the idea.

Try contacting someone from the local NAWCC chapter near you and get a reference for a watch maker in your area who can install a lift spring for you. In the old days, this job was a sub-specialty done by case "springers". Each spring was originally hand fitted to some degree. so, I don't think you will find a standard spring to fit the case. Originally made of forged steel, some after-market flat replacements are around, made to fit several different size cases with a small amount of hand work. Someone in your area may have a box of springs from which one can be made to fit your case.

Good luck,

Greg.

Well John, You emailed me about this Case, and I offered to help, if you would send the Ccase to me. I'm not a stranger to some of the guys here, and as I stated in my answering email, I'm a 25 year member of NAWCC, in good standing. I've done business with quite a few of the guys posting on this BB. If that isn't enough of a recommendation, I guess that I can't help. If I can't fit the spring you need, all it will cost you is my return postage.
