I just found about 16 very old pocket watches that belonged to my father, who would now be 101 years old if still living. I would like advise as to the best way to go about finding out the value of these watches. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thank you so much.

You will get several suggestions, but as a starter obtain a copy of Shugart's Complete Guide To Watches. Either buy or borrow from a library.

Check completed auctions on Ebay and other auction sites.

Shugart is great book to have but you will also need to assess the condition of the watches.

While looking at Ebay sellers note that some of the sellers advertise that they will sell items for others. This is an option you should consider. I know of at least one such seller in California.

They will photograph and describe you item, post it and you can see what happens by following the auction.

There are also some storefront operations that also put items on Ebay. From what I have seen most of these operations do noy know how to descsribe watches and their results show this.

Good photos and descriptions pay.
