Executive Director?s Report for August 2002 from NAWCC/NWCM Executive Director, Nancy D. Connelly, Ph.D.

1.The National Watch & Clock Museum, Inc. has been awarded a $22,000 Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission Museum Operations Grant.

2.Douglas C. Dolan of the Bucks County Historical Society, the peer reviewer provided through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Museum Assessment Program through their Institutional Assessment Grant Program, met with museum staff and the Museum Committee.

3.At the end of July, the Association had 29,885 members, showing a net loss of 177 members for the month.

4.Efforts at the Museum have centered on hosting a community reception for the Museum?s temporary exhibit, ?Pennsylvania Clocks 1750-1850? and assembling materials for the upcoming Hamilton exhibit.

5.Museum admissions showed an increase from the previous month, but gift shop sales showed a decrease from the previous month.

6.The NAWCC website had 1,793,543 total hits during the month of August.

7.The Library and Research Center answered 276 research questions and circulated 405 items.

8.Beginning in December, the School of Horology will charge a lab fee of $27.25 per course.

9.The School has had the first of its many to come student barbeques. Students and staff had a most enjoyable time. Held as a lunchtime happening, the event was a huge success and provided all of the Columbia staff the opportunity to exchange thoughts and time with the student body.
