Hi Joanna, I am the guy that suggested two watches. There is an interesting Ingram Railroad watch on eBay right now that may be the same as the one your friend has. I think it would be neat to give him this along with the Wenger. I have no interest in the sale. Just for the heck of it, Take a lookIngraham Railroad (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2673727947&category=10319) Keith

Just a comment: Many if not most train-engraved cases are of mid-century provenance but nevertheless pretentiously and anachronistically portray old-style steam locomotives. The watch in Keith’s link has a nifty and provenance-appropriate streamliner. I like it! I wish I could find a 16S SBB or swingout case just like it!

Annie, I have found 3 or 4 of the Ingraham Aristocrat RR specials in the past several years at yard sales or flea markets. The most expensive one was $1. The cheapest one was 25 cents. They are out there and are cheap. I have sold three of them at our local chapter mart for $10 each.

Sounds good Tom! Would an Ingraham Aristocrat RR Special have a “standard” 16S case? Would it be likely to be screw back & bezel instead of snap?

Thanks for your interest!

Annie, The Aris RR Spec comes in a standard Ingraham case which is snapback and bezel. The only difference is that the back has the diesel/electric locomotive embossed on the back. These were regular $2.95 watches when sold in the early 1950's. The ones I have seen were date 1950 or 51.
