Hello! Does anyone know when Waltham first put pointer type wind indicators on their 8 day clocks instead of spot indicators? I'm restoring an early one. Thanks, hc

I don't think it is a function of time. The 8 day indicator dials generally appear on the 15 jewel adjusted movements and particularly on the Marine Chronometer service one. They also appear on the jeweler counter top chronometers.

I think it may be a function of age, actually. I have only seen 5 of these from the 1908 runs, and they all had spot indicators, 3 were box chronometers. All the ones woth pointer indicators were from later runs. Does anyone know if the pointer mechanism was developed later, maybe in connection with WWI naval requirements?

The one I'm doing has no indicator parts in it, unfortunately.
