Am attempting to determine the manufacturer of this 1/4 second jump watch that I have. Dustcover has legend that appears to say Eugene Jeanjacquet of Neuchatel. can find no info on such a maker in Brittens or Baillies. To me the movement looks a little like a Matthey Tissot but there are no marking on it anywhere, neither on back nor under face, took me forever to work out how to get face off and movement out of case!!, never seen anything like that before. Watch is approx a US 16s and movement is around 45mm.
Have attached some links to some scans, the enlarged scans are approx 60kb each. Never attempted to attach scans before, hopefully I understand what the documentation says!!
Thanks Peter

OK gave up with the documentation. Tripod obviously pushes a frame before the main frame.
The scans can be found at this link.

All I could find at your link were the pictures of the Liverpool Goddard. If you would like a free hosting site, you can send pictures to me and I will post them on http://archive.awco.org. They will stay there permanently.

I just noticed that I had not set up that url yet. The archive is currently at www.awco.org/archive (http://www.awco.org/archive)

Wow. Peter. Nice watch. I have seen (and owned ) tons of the quasi-colonial watches but I cannot recall EVER haveing seen one with a complication like that.

It looks like you have a two train dual winding chronograph with jumping seconds hand. I would be VERY interested to know if the case is American or not. Any eagles as hallmarks? Very very nice.

BTW, "the powers that be" (whoever they are) should come up with a name or designation of some kind for thee later watches that were cased in the USA from imported movements. I believe they are too important to be called simply "contract watches". Especially wathces like that one!
Thanks for sharing!

Case appears to be European. Only hallmark on it is 18k. Strangely, dust cover also appears to be 18k. Dust cover is marked with unknown makers name from Neuchatel and says made expressly for a jewelers in New Orleans. Watchmaker I took it to originally said it was a recase then on closer examination stated the case was original, he's actually making a new stem for it at the moment.

Hi Peter,

If you are still around and can provide the name of the jeweler in New Orleans, I may be able to help date your watch.
