On the Early American Mantle clocks and I guess it goes with all clocks, does one put the clock in beat and then adjust the Beats per Minute? Seems when I do that and move it to another location it I have to adjust the this all over again. Both places are level. What goes?

Several things could be happening. Are you moving the clock with the pendulum on it. This could put it out of beat. Also, the position of the suspension rod in the crutch loop can make a difference. What I normally do is set the beat, adjust for proper time and then I know the time is correct. When I move the clock I set the beat again in the new position. The clock should still keep correct time as the clock will again be in beat. Hope this helps. Jim

It sounds as if you have one with a very worn, loose regulating assembly, in such cases when the clock is tiped slightly forwards or backwards the suspension shifts in the regulating chops thus altering the beat and beat rate.
