Hello to all, I have a lever set 18s Elgin that wont let me set the time. When the lever is fully extended the setting slips. The time will set but the hands are jumpy when turning the crown. What do you all think? is the problem under the dial? Thanks to all,

Aaron,
I agree with Ken, you'll find a problem or two under the dial. Without knowing more about the history of the watch, it's hard to predict exactly what you'll find. However I've found a problem such as you describe caused by something as simple as the screw holding the set-lever in place being loose, or another associated loose part, and the simple tightening of a screw or two fixes it. Another possibility in addition to the ones we've mentioned can be a slight misalignment of parts. If you have a good set of screwdrivers, a hand puller, a small pair of needle-nosed pliers and a steady hand you will be well on the way. If you don't yet have some of the basic tools, I suggest now is the time to get them.
I know you are handy with tools Aaron, this is like your antique car, only smaller!
Let us know what you find.
