Hi everyone-

I inherited a pocket watch from my great grandfather and am trying to identify the case maker. By using the great resources available here and elsewhere on the net, I have deciphered the other hallmarks on the case. It is 9ct gold, hallmarked in Chester, England, in 1931. I can't, however find what the maker's mark stands for. The maker's mark is a B.B in a lozenge-shaped mark. I have looked everywhere I can on the net, in my local library, and at Barnes&Noble to no avail. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with this.

Thanks in advance, Colin

Colin,

Welcome to the NAWCC Message Board!

It could be Benson Brothers (late Samuel & Rogers) (John Benson, William Hilton Benson, & George Walter Benson) 72 Wood St., Liverpool. This trade mark was still active as recently as 1912. This according to Phillip Priestley's catalog of English watch case makers.
