Any chance of getting a better shot of the cartouche just below the serial number.

Very nice watch, to say the least. Thanks for the great photos.

Larry,

Nice chronograph (split second if I am not mistaken?). Any chance of a more clear photo of the movement? Anything written on the curvette?

Czhack,

If you click on the image and zoom it, it will be very clear.

Don,

Thanks for the tip.

Larry,

Change that nice.....to VERY NICE - Please share a close up of the trademark on the movement so we can try to identify the maker.

I can post more pictures tomorrow. This is a typical spartan Swiss watch. No markings on the cuvette except the same that is marked on the inside case back.(casemaker, serial no and gold content) Also, the movement is marked S & Co. I have no idea what that company is.

Hello Larry, Don, Ron & Mike,
the beautiful movement have a company engraving near the balance wheel: S&Co. with a crown at the top inside a oval circle is for Stauffer, Son & Co., La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. Stauffer was also famous with Ebauches from IWC (International watch Co. Schaffhausen in Switzerland).

This swiss (3-finger) bridge movement (size estimate around 19 paris lines) is with a Rattrapante (as Mike explained a Split second) function and looks like a very high finished quality - indeed a super quality. 2 column wheels, Geneva stripes surface finishing, chromed, polished and rounded edges of its chrono part pieces, bimetallic screwbalance-wheel, blued Breguet hairspring, swan neck regulator... Congrats to this very delicous chronograph!

It is a lovely example. I trust the bezel was removed for the dial photograph.

It is interesting to contrast this style of split second chronograph with the Zenith that was shown recently that had most of the complications under the dial.

Thanks for all the information..it's very helpful. Now I know the maker.

Tom, I did remove the bezel for the photograph. I was too lazy to try and get a good shot with it in place.
