Steve,

First let me put an assumption on the table... the assumption is that you are not a member of the NAWCC, and hence do not have access to the NAWCC E-MART. If that assumption is falso, you should consider posting the watch on E-MART.

Now a piece of advice... keep the watch and the documentation together. By documentation, I mean the sales receipts for the watch, not the other railroadiana you have, which is probably unrelated (and may be valuable in its own right). If you also have the box for the watch, keep it together with the watch too.

It goes without saying the eBay is a venue for selling collectibles. Web Horology (http://webhorology-mb.infopop.cc/) also has an Items For Sale page that can be used to sell horological goods, such as this.

One final piece of advice... don't get your hopes up that you'll get a mortgage payment from selling this watch. It's not that rare, and unless the condition is fabulous and the watch is in working order, you might want to investigate whether it is even worth the time and effort to put this watch up for sale. You might be better served by displaying it as a conversation piece.

Regards,

- Greg

Steve,

There's no way for us to know, based solely on the information provided so far. Personally, I think it's really just a question of whether you want the money more than the watch. If so, take it and don't look back. If you're worried about getting ripped, then stick around and learn more... but fair warning, if you learn too much you WILL get hooked (and may wish you had just taken the money when you think back of all the money you spent building your own collection).

Steve,

Greg gives good advice and here is my 2 cents.

The first offer is never the final offer. The stuff has been in a box for a long time. A few days extra makes no difference at this point.

Take the time to inform yourself. Look the stuff over maybe do a key-word search on the internet. Check Ebay. Post pictures here.

Consider this: Sometimes it is better to sell single pieces rather than complete lots.

The bottom line is: take the time to learn a bit about what you have. Railroad memorabilia is a "hot item" for collectors. Maybe you have something good.... maybe you have "junk".
