I got my pocket watch back from the jewelers today! It now has a crown wheel missing no teeth, and it is polished, and the gold is beautiful! I'm displaying it in a dome in my hutch.

Aside from the crown wheel problem, I asked the jeweler to fix the stem. I couldn't pull it out to set the watch. He didn't do anything to it other than pull harder. He said it works, but it has to be pulled out REALLY hard. He is right. I can do it, but it seems unnaturally difficult. If I look really close, I can see that the stem might not be coming straight out of the case collar. Maybe it's off-center or leaning, or maybe the collar is warped.

I'm afraid that sometime while I'm pulling REALLY hard on it, I might break something.

Is there anything I can do about this, or should I leave it alone since I won't be using the watch?

Thanks.
Steve.

Leave it alone - it won't hurt anything. Just make a note in the papers so that fifty years from now your grandson won't have to re-learn about it.

Thanks, Kent.

I've already noted it in my paperwork.
