I thought some may be interested in this method of cleaning those old tall case weight shells a little faster then by hand..

I use the wood lathe and these shell holders.

David...It depends on the condition of the brass and the the desired effect..These have a satin original finish so removing the remaining lacquer and tarnish is done with a light 500 grit sand paper and finish with OOOO steel wool and a cream polish. If they are to be lacquered again I also clean with a lacquer thinner to remove a traces of the polish and dirt...

That's a neat trick, but what really fascinates me are those turning tools! Are those made from molding head cutters?

Bill...You are right. I made the holders for these other-wise useless cutters..They come in
handy sometimes for thoses special turnings..
