I'm a railroad pocketwatch guy. Did Hamilton ever produce a wind indicator watch? I've read with Elgin and others it was a $3.50 add-on. In today's market, that would be a bundle.

From 1920 to 2001, 3.50 would equal $34.55. I guess that's not exactly a "bundle".

I believe only in the 35 size and 36 size chronometers will a wind indicator be found.

Hello...I have in my Hamilton Military PW collection...a 4992b (probably prototype) with a 24 hour up/dn indicator on a 24 hour black dial...no pinion hole showing through nor hand. It all looks quite legitimate to me, however it appears Hamilton Watch Co. never followed through with production. R.T.Raucher Chico, Calif.

Terry Hall. I do have the rare Elgin PW with the up/dn/ indicator in my collection you mentioned above. However I am unable to post pictures of my Hamilton 4992b with up/dn dial (prototype). I really am not computer literate. Robert Chico, Calif.

Robert,

Terry Hall is very helpful and can post your picture. Or if you e-mail it to one of our moderators, Tom Chaudoir at <tom@Clocktech.com> you'll find Tom has generously offered to post pictures for those of us who are "computer-impaired"... a lot of us collect 4992B Hamiltons and will be awaiting your pictures with great interest! By the way what is the serial number of the Hamilton Prototype? Which Elgin do you refer to? I'm a fan of 18-size Veritas WI and I for one want to know more.

Railman,

On behalf of nearly all the 134 members of the NAWCC-***, we are grateful for this opportunity to put our efforts in the proper perspective. Yes we had a few problems but they are behind us. A highly vocal minority and their remarks will often enter into an organization. In this case, the other 95% waited for them to finally quiet down so we could continue our important Chapter-Building work. Out of heat comes light, and now we can and we will concentrate on the important work of continuing to build the first-ever NAWCC World-Wide Local Chapter. Our positive message followed with positive results is not only our goal but our promise and we fully intend to keep it.

THE NAWCC INTERNET HOROLOGY CHAPTER IS TAKING THE NAWCC EVERYWHERE!

The proposed Internet Horology Chapter of the NAWCC welcomes members from all around the world. For the first time ever, a proposed NAWCC Chapter, the NAWCC-*** strives to provide all the comfort and support of a local chapter for NAWCC members for whom geography, meeting times, health, or other circumstances have previously precluded involvement in the traditional land-based local chapter structure. We are the first ever NAWCC Local Chapter whose coverage area is the entire world, and we are immensely proud of our efforts!

As you may know we took a huge leap forward on Monday September 30th with my appointment of Paul Anderson to the newly created position of "VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNET TECHNOLOGY" which is now one of the most important positions in the NAWCC-*** to date. Paul is but 21 but his resume' as well as his mature vision is what one would expect from a man twice his young age! Paul's duties include but not be limited to Responsibility for Hardware and Software Development as well as Co-ordination of the entire NAWCC-*** Internet Presence. Paul is from Sarnia, Ontario and contributes greatly to the international flavor of our global organization. Paul is very enthusiastic and able to explain the most complex operations in straight-forward terms. He has been warmly received on the Message Board and I am confident we made a tremendous choice! Paul will be working closely with our Management Team and our members alike, it is already clear that everyone will enjoy working with and helping Paul as he implements our Internet Presence in the coming weeks and months.

We anticipate having our interactive website up and running by as early as mid-October. Both Tom McIntyre and Wayne "Elgin Wayne" Schlitt deserve our gratitude for obtaining and donating to the NAWCC-*** two of the Internet Addresses which will prove to be so very important and valuable to us in the future! This kind of outstanding and unselfish assistance is indicative of the feeling of brotherhood we need more of, not only in the NAWCC but in all our lives. Thank you both, Tom and Wayne!

In the coming days we will be announcing the appointment of one of the NAWCC's Most Qualified Members who has agreed to assume the extremely important role of our Vice-President for Education and Training. We expect to feature interactive real-time training on the internet! More about that vital appointment and a very special announcement in just a few days.

Thanks to Aaron and everyone who has joined! To those reading this who have not as yet, come along as together we continue building the first-ever NAWCC World-Wide Local Chapter, all-inclusive of all Horological Interests! The rational and focused NAWCC-*** Membership are on board and I am very impressed with the many offers of assistance by NAWCC Members from around the world! Our Charter Application is being fully and properly reviewed, and full approval is anticipated very soon now.

We are already the fastest growing new chapter in the sixty-year history of the NAWCC and we believe you'll enjoy the experience. We are a new venture and many of our members are young and forward-looking, so join us!

To join the NAWCC-***, send me an e-mail with your full name and NAWCC Member Number as well as your complete Postal and e-mail addresses at <southbend@adelphia.net> or call me at the phone number below.

Together we will all make the NAWCC and the *** the very best they can be!

Sincerely,

Lindell V. Riddle, Interim President

Aaron,
Do you need to be a member of the NAWCC? As of yet, I haven't joined. You can call it laziness or maybe too high of a credit card debt or being a member of too many organizations. I met a guy today in Lincoln who is very knowlegable and most helpful. He'll be at the Omaha show. He's got some great and rare stuff! My tongue was hitting the floor looking at the Hamiltons he's got. Anyway, that's an aside...
