Hi,
I'm new to this board...hope I follow proper etiquette :smile:I'd like to find out if Howard pocket watch I found has been recased and if it makes sense to have it repaired and recased yet again. Here's a link to the watch:
Thanks for any info! Howard Pocket Watch (http://www.garthnewel.org/led/watch/index.html)

This looks like a nickel or chome case. I believe that all Keystone-Howard watches were sold complete in gold or gold-filled Keystone or Crescent cases.

Its a 16-size watch.

I say no unless it was acquired very reasonably.

Thank you both for responding. Maybe I can find the proper type case for it one day and have it put in.

Luca:

The only proper case for it would be a signed, E. Howard Watch Co. Case and all of those would all ready have an E. Howard Watch Co. movement in them. You might just as well leave it as it is.

Lucad, I bought a Howard Series 3 Watch (yours is a series 3) in a base metal case about 20 years ago. I had looked for a case, and had almost given up when, at the Akron NAWCC regional last year, I found an empty 16S E Howard Watch Co gold filled case. The case is not perfect, but decent, and for $20, I now have my Howard back into an original style case. If you don't belong to the NAWCC, I would recommend joining and begin attending marts. It is amazing what you can find and what info you can get.
