I don't have a lathe, but I need to modify an Illinois balance staff. I have a Waltham pocket watch size 16, but it has a different balance staff and balance wheel. After checking cross reference charts I found that the balance staff measurements are that of an Illinois pocket watch. The seat for the balance wheel and hairspring have both been lowered so the whole assembly fits into the Waltham pocket watch. I need to send this to someone who can modify it and send it back.

Abimelek,

Is Steve Maddox still in business in Little Rock. Haven't heard from him in ages. If he's there, he could probably do it for you, but he would probably consent to do it only if he got the whole job.

Go ask President Riddle, at the 185-he knows Mr. Maddox, if memory serves.

Maybe you should find the correct balance assmembly for your Waltham. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to find.
Give Brian C.( pwpartsetc@pwatch.com) a try. Maybe he has one.

Thank you everyone. I have tried contacting Mr. Maddox on several occasions and have had no luck whatsoever. I'll try Brian C. a try next.
