Can anyone tell me something about this watch. "Remontour Cylindre 10 Rubis". It has an open face with two hinged covers on the back. On the enter most back cover are the figures "263144". There are no figures on the movement. Thanks.

Sounds like a Swiss or possibly French watch movement. "Remontoire" simply means stem wound. "Cylindre" tells us it is a cylinder escapement and "10 Rubis" means 10 jewels. The numbers on the inner case don't really tell us anything. This kind of watch was made from around 1890 to 1920 or thereabouts. With a photo, we might be able to tell you more.

Jerry: Thanks. I have returned the watch to a friend. He has two of which he brought home with him for Germany when he was in the Army back in the 50s. Kind regards.
