We don't do values.

I have seen some Sagnes and they have been high grade. Full jeweled usually means 15 which is high grade.

The 18 probably means solid gold. Grade in this case is amatter of how thick the case is. Some cases are very very thin.

Having the wood box is nice but unnless it says Sagne it may not be original.

Pictures will let up tell you more.

Hi Bill,

Unfortunately we are not allowed to discuss the monetary value of watches on this board. Would it be possible for you to past pictures of the watch? That should allow us to provide a lot more information to you. In particular, a photo of the movement and all marks on the case (such as the crown with 18 underneath it) would be helpful. If you have trouble posting the pictures just send them to me and I can post them for you.

Zack

BTW, did you recently win this item on eBay? I'm pretty sure I remember adding an 18k F. Sagne watch to to my watch list, although it looks like I've already removed it.

first please accept my appology on brining up values . i am a new member and in my anxious enthusiasm.i kind of overlooked tos.
back to the watch it is in the box that also is marked f.sagne,it just seems to me if he made 73,000+ watches there would be a little somthing on the internet about whom this man was and what years he worked his trade.i have a collection of railroad watches but seems like all the info on these has become almost common knowledge.so i thought i would check out some early swiss watches.and i must say that for a country whose gross nat'l product evolves around the watch world their early pocket watches do not seem to be easily reseached
also i am a stalled car on the information highway i cant get these photos to upload says they are to big, look normal to me....oh well anyone hearing about said watch any info would be vastly appriciated,Bill

Hello! Since you are a member of the NAWCC, I would highly recommend that you take advantage of their research service. It's free, and they have access to a ton of books with information on Swiss watches, such as Pritchard's Swiss Timepiece Makers. I believe that they are able to handle photographs sent to them by normal mail, so you wouldn't necessarily have to figure out how to post pictures to the Internet.

Most Swiss watches were based on ebouches, which are unfinished movements manufactured by a company that specialized in movement manufacturing. If you are able to post pictures, we will be able to try to identify the manufacturer and model using a movement identification book like Paulson's Master Key.

One way of posting to pictures that may work for you would be to send the pictures to my e-mail address (z.bortolot@moreheadstate.edu) as attachments. Since they seem to be big files, you will probably have better luck sending them one at a time. I can then resize them and post them so that they are visible to everyone on the board.

Good luck!

Zack
