I just recieved a Canadian Railway time Hunting Case service. I was told it was a "private" lable. I was wondering if it is an AP&T or an Cresent St. Model. The AP&T suppose had a run of 200 and Cresent St. a run of 100.

Nobber:

If the serial number is 5,741,663 (its a little hard to read in the picture), its a grade No. 35, which was a fairly high grade model `83. At least three open-face Canadian Pacific Railway movements are noted in our data base as being built at the same time, also based upon the grade No. 35:
5,742,502
5,742,757
5,742,981

Although we refer to these as being built from an AT&Co, Crescent St. or No. 35 grade movement, it may not be correct to think of them that way. Regardless of the grade of the run from which the movements were drawn, they were no doubt finished to the quality defined for the CPR or CRTS grades.

Oh, for a description of the No. 35 grade, see the 1887 (Updated to 1889) S.F. Myers Catalog at:
www.elginwatches.org/scans/sales_catalogs/1887_S_F_Myers/m_index.html
(you should copy the above address and paste it in your browser address bar - if it doesn't work the first time, try opening a new window for your browser, one without a previous visit to the NAWCC website)

Please let me know if your serial number different from what I read it as. Also, these watches seemed to have come with dial having an inner ring of 13-24 hour figures. Is your dial like this? Is it an Arabic or Roman dial?
