Tompion vs. Bosley regulator

Is there a trick I'm missing on a Bosley style regulator? Tompions are fairly simple and work rather well. I've had two with Bosley style regulators and don't seem to get much reaction on either one of them. I guess I should be happy they tick, but the verges I have with Tompion disk regulators do rather well over time.
