Hi Mckenna,

Speaking just for myself, I read your message the other day about the "Adamson datekeeper," but since I've never seen or heard of one of those before, I didn't feel I had anything useful with which to reply.

While your "datekeeper" may not actually be a watch or a clock, and is perhaps best suited for this "Misc." category, I think that (with the probable exceptions of the "Stolen Items" and "Horological Tools" sections) this may be the least frequently visited of any of the various sections here. I would guess that your chances of getting replies might be better by posting your question in the "Clocks" section, but I'm not at all sure that anyone there will have any information about it either. While I've never specifically looked for such a thing before, the fact that I can't recall having seen one would seem to me to indicate that they must be fairly uncommon.

As a long-time user of these various message boards, it has been my experience that messages which receive no replies, are usually those about which no information is known. I'm not aware of any instances in which information here has been intentionally withheld, nor do I know of any better sources for the type of generalized horological information that is so frequently disseminated here.

I'm sorry not to have been able to provide any information about your "datekeeper," nor to have been able to provide any additional assistance, but I'm especially sorry to see that you apparently feel like you have been intentionally ignored, as I am sure that this is not the case.

Hi again Mckenna,

If you will notice beside my name at the left of the screen, I am a Moderator, but not for this particular section. The area I moderate is the Horological Tools section, but I try to answer questions and help out in other areas whenever possible.

I think that strictly speaking, your "Datekeeper" IS a timekeeper, it just keeps time on a grander scale than ordinary clocks. Instead of keeping time by hours and minutes, it keeps it by months and days. In any event, the mere fact that it's much more the size of a clock than a watch, makes me think that perhaps someone in the "Clocks" section may be able to help you. Unfortunately, my area of expertise is almost exclusively confined to watches and watchmaker's tools, and I know very little about clocks.

Don't be too concerned about "protocol" here! These message boards are very informal, and we're all glad when messages such as yours appear -- even if no one happens to know anything about it at the moment, at least now we know such a thing exists, and can be on the lookout for similar items in the future. If you find out anything about your "Datekeeper," I hope that you will pass the information on to us here. I, for one, almost never visit the "Clocks" section.

As always, please feel free to participate on these various forums as often as you like, and post messages whenever you can! Perhaps next time, we will be able to be of more assistance!
