Have older 30 hour cuckoo I picked up. Problem:
Hanging on wall without wood pendulum and leaf bob--the pendulum wire goes back and forth very fast and free ,but, Hang the wood rod and bob on it and cannot keep it running for more than a minute or so--even if it seems to be in beat.
*I tried a heavier wood rod and bob with same results--Whats my problem?

Randy,

Sounds like your clock needs cleaning and lubrication. It takes a lot more power to keep a pendulum going than the hanger.

Thanks David,
I was afraid that would be the case. Not only do not have a good area to take that on-but don;t know that I can get one back together if I dimantled it.

How old is it, there are many different cuckoo movements available (regula & herrs)many at reasonable prices. Blackforest imports has a good selection of regula's in different styles used over the yrs.

timerider,
It appears to be fairly old. Havn't really got into it yet. I think the movement is fine and doesn't need a new one. I think it would be better to keep it original. Probably the clean/oil is the treatment . I may just pass it on and let someone else deal with that.-lol
