The Symposium, hosted by NAWCC Chapter 139, will begin with a Clock Shop Tour and Barbeque at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and will conclude with a banquet on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. The theme of the Symposium is "Horological Inventors in America," featuring ten outstanding speakers
from around the country who will explore what made American clock and watchmakers so unique and their products so innovative.

The speakers and topics of the lectures include:

* Dr. David Collard - James Arthur Lecture

* Chris Bailey - Silas Terry

* Robert Cheney - Simon Willard

* Bill Ellison - Henry Warren

* John Hubby - Torsion Clocks

* Tom McIntyre - Early Boston Watchmaking

A special tribute to Ward Francillon and a tour of two local collections, plus other surprises, await those who attend the three-day event. Whether you're an avid timepiece collector or new to the field of horology, the Symposium is an excellent opportunity to learn a great deal in just three days.

The Symposium is open to the public, and those interested can register either for the entire Symposium or for specific speakers. Registration information is available by visiting the National Association of Watch
and Clock Collectors' website http://www.nawcc.org <http://www.nawcc.org/> or by writing to Terry Brotherton, 6807 Cedar Point Dr., Pasadena, TX
77505. The deadline for pre-registration is October 20.

Lectures and the Saturday evening banquet will be held at the J.W. Marriott, located at 5150 Westheimer, Houston, Texas. The telephone
number is (731) 961-1500 or (800) 228-9290. The Marriott is conveniently located across the street from the world-famous Galleria
shopping center. Houston will also be hosting a huge quilt show during the running of the Symposium. A special room rate of $89 for single or double rooms is being offered by the Marriott. To receive this special rate, those who are interested should make a reservation by October 15 and use the code name "NAWN."

The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC, Inc.) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization with approximately 26,000 members representing 55 countries. The Association, through its chapters, offers about 20 regional meetings across North America each year.

Members of the NAWCC include hobbyists, students, educators, casual watch and clock collectors, and professionals in related retail and manufacturing trades. The one common bond is a fascination with the art and science of timekeeping. Of course, members also share a number of tangible benefits - including yearly subscriptions to two quality NAWCC publications, local chapter activities, workshops and educational seminars held throughout the nation, and complimentary admission to the beautifully renovated and expanded National Watch and Clock Museum in
Columbia, Pennsylvania. The NAWCC also operates the NAWCC School of Horology in Columbia, where diplomas can be earned in many different areas of the field of horology. For additional membership information, call 717-684-8261 or visit http://www.nawcc.org <http://www.nawcc.org/> .
