According the serial number list in a 1919 South Bend Watch Material catalog, reprinted by Fred Fox, serial number 431662 is a grade 281. Based upon the 1909 and 1910 dates that Polaris and the first Studebaker grades were introduced and knowing their serial numbers (in the low 500,000's), I suspect that your was built a lot closer to 1907 than 1903 or 1910.
If you're not careful, you're going to end up really hooked on pocket watches.
