Thom,
Is it possible for you to post a picture of the suspension assembly for that clock?
If all is well with the movement, the solution will be to shorten the effective pendulum length. The method may be as simple as replacing the suspension spring with a shorter one or maybe shortening the suspension feather if the clock has that system.
If you cannot post a picture, can you email one to me?

You need to verify if that is the movement that started in the clock. Check the back board for extra holes, obviously check if it is in fact a Seth Thomas movement.

Is The clutch slipping?

Hold your finger in front of the minute hand while running. If the clutch is working, it will stop or at least slow down. If it keeps on truckin the clutch is slippin.
