Hello to all. A 950E would have a uncut balance wheel right? Similar to the "B" or the 992E. Just looking at one on fleaBay and the ballance looks to have compensating cuts in it. Thanks for the help.
I didnt want to link to the watch but I went back and maybe its my eyes. I dont know. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=975721687 I am refering to the balance only. NOT the seller or the watch.

Aaron,
I think I see a cut under the center wheel in line with the "J" in 23 jewels.
An aside this is a true "Mainliner" although a little rough.

"MAINLINER WANNABE?"
Aaron,
Your sharp eyes picked out the balance which evidently has been switched, I agree with you and Don that something is very wrong here. Once I start looking it over, the hour and minute hands are of course a pair and would go with that dial but I believe they came along somewhat later and are mis-matched to everything else. The second hand might be original, but that's of little consequence.
On the positive side that movement is from the first ever run of 950E which ran from 2611401 through 2613000 during 1937 and 1938. Don's also right about that being the style of case which later was used on genuine 950 Mainliner Elinvars, but this particular combination appears to be that of a "mainliner wannabe" rather than the real thing. In other words, the movement and case could have started out together but not with those hands and dial.
Too much "mix and match" here, this offering has the look of being the "leftovers" after all the good stuff went to other watches. Kinda like a woman that looks real good at the saloon on a Saturday night, but the next day you have plenty of time to regret.
