From Kim Craven, NAWCC Headquarters:
COLUMBIA, PA: The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors is
proud to have 18 volunteers who have faithfully given over 3,000 hours
of service during the past year. A recognition luncheon was held in the
grand lobby of the National Watch and Clock Museum Monday on April 24,
to honor these dedicated volunteers.
Volunteer Byron LeCates was presented with the Volunteer of the Year
Award for his eight years of dedicated service to the Museum. LeCates
joined the NAWCC in 1962, and in the past year logged 164 hours for the
Museum gift shop. Staff members have described LeCates as someone who
takes on a very active role in recruiting new members to the
Association, enjoys meeting visitors, and promoting all of the Museum's
programs.
LeCates, a York native, joined Stock and Leader as an attorney in 1990,
where he practices in the areas of will administration, real estate, and
school law. He is a member of the Pennsylvania School Board Solicitors
Association, member and past-president of the West York Rotary Club,
past-president of the Pennsylvania Federation of Historical Societies,
and of the Historical Society of York County.
The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors is always eager
to have volunteers help at its Columbia campus. Volunteers serve in
various areas, including the School of Horology, the Library and
Research Center, the Museum, and Administrative Headquarters. Whether
you have an extensive background in timekeeping, a casual interest in
the subject, or simply a little extra time to share, the NAWCC can use
YOUR help. Don't hesitate to call the NAWCC at 717-684-8261, ext. 237
for more information on how you can become involved in the volunteer
program.
