This watch is different to me, in that the front hunter cover that opens is not solid. The front cover is only a rim of about 3/16, what is going on? Also the crystal is missing, but I am not sure where it would go. It is in a lever set case, but must be a stem set, as there is no lever to set the time with. I am sure this is not special, but I have not seen this before. Thanks for any information on this watch.

Duder,

What you have is either a cut hunter (hunting case with the lid cut [damaged] out to make it "open face") or a demi-hunter with the time numerials on the outside lid. Both will wind with the 3:00 position at the stem-UNLESS SWITCHED (recased).

Thanks for the info. So now I know what a cut hunter case is. Too bad, I guess it served it purpose for someone who didn't like to push the stem.
