If anyone can assist me in finding a cannon pinion for my newly purchased USWCo. Asa Fuller 18s S/N 35662, please let me know. The cannon pinion is loose, plus, the key setting arbor has a corner broken off. Of course the cannon pinion and the key setting arbor are one and the same, I just hope that it can be found in the size that I need. This Marion actually runs pretty good, and the hands can still be set with care and patience, but I am sure that the present cannon pinion will continue to get in worse condition with continued use.
To view this Marion Asa Fuller, go to the following link:

Except for the cannon pinion, this Marion is in excellent condition, including the coin silver hunter case. The hinges are tight, and the lids open to 90 degrees, with a good spring action on the front lid.
Any advice and/or assistance toward getting a cannon pinion will be greatly appreciated. Wes Boger will get this Marion for servicing and repairing as soon as we locate the cannon pinion part.
Thanks,
Jerry

Whoa there pardner. You have a loose cannon pinion. You don't need a new cannon pinion, you need to tighten the old one! Talk to a watch repairer and you will learn this is a common problem and an easy fix. As an added perk, you also retain the originality of the watch and spend less dough! Win win!
I've owned a couple of dozen Marions but have never had the luck to find one in it's original case. Mazeltov!

The looseness is not really an issue, but from the picture, the square is broken. Since the watch sets from the front with a key, that is a problem. There is no reasonable repair except to replace it.
A loose (or tight) canon pinion can be adjusted. I expect the replacement for this one to need to have the hole hopened up or closed to fit on the center wheel's shaft.
Tom is absolutely right. The only reasonable repair for the broken square hub on this canon pinion is to relace it, if we are lucky enough to find one.

The Marion Asa Fuller was mailed on Saturday, 8-5-06 to Wes Boger.
Wes just repaired, serviced and returned three of my Walthams, and each one is running like a freight train on new tracks! If you want your antique American pocket watch to run like new again, Wes is the man!
Will post again with any news.
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry,
Please excuse my hasty response above. I read
"replacing a loose cannon pinion" but dashed past the chip.
Wes, send some measurements (ht.and center pinion diam.etc.), I've got three or four Marion ones that might be right (or I can post them and you can test them and return extras).

Hey Cort-
Thanks for the offer.
I will let you know when I get the watch and email the dimensions.

Cort,
I really appreciate your very generous offer to help with the cannon pinion.
Also, thank you for your observations on this Marion find. The original case was among the first things about this Marion that made me gaze in wonderment when I saw that the ebay seller was asking only $250.00 + $10.00 shipping and insurance on, "Buy-It-Now" fixed pricing, with no bidding required.
I will certainly look forward to hearing from you and Wes.
