Greg -

Great scans!

First dial reads correctly as "Frank A. Balcom"?

Any idea who this individual was?

Fred

Hi Fred,

Yes, it reads Frank A. Balcom. He worked, among other places, for the Aurora Watch Co., first in the machine room and later as a "boomer" (traveling salesman). The dial is an Aurora one.

The dial came to me loose, so I put it on an appropriate Aurora movement that had an incorrect dial on it already.

FWIW, this is the only runic style Aurora dial that I've ever seen or that has been reported to me, and my database of Aurora watches exceeds 3500 entries (though the entries have varying degrees of detail from little to alot). Of course, there could certainly (and hopefully!) be other runic Aurora dials out there. It would be interesting to have others reported here on this thread.

The only other Aurora Watch Co. employee piece that I know of is a mvt made by/for Ed. Wall.

BTW, I hope you're getting in shape for a climb when you visit Colorado for the regional!
