Dang,

As a guy showed my this watch I was stammering and shaking. NEver seen anything so mint. I know we "DO NOT DISCUSS SPECIFIC VALUES ONE HERE" but the price was in the very low FIVE FIGURE range.

And it was gold filled. And it was American.

Any guesses?

I did not take my camera.. dang it..

but it was teh single most pristine fully marekd 23J Sanagamo I have ever seen. Outer box marekd 23J 60 hour was cardboard with full color Sangamo Indian Chief, innner box was typical French Ivory also fully marked. Original receipt still inside. and inside the plastic box was the mint and pratically untouched 60 hour. As he is showing it to me, I am calculating how much I would pay for this.

His price came in at double. Dang it. awesome piece... jeff hess

Darn Jeff, I would have loved to have seen this one at the show.....

Sounds like it was a real show piece.

I saw the watch also. It may be seen at the San Diego Regional in November and again at the Phoenix (Mesa) Regional next February. It belongs to Galen Gudenkauf.

It was incredibly original and I believe it was as received by the jeweler from the factory. Galen bought it from the jeweler who had put it in his safe when it was received lo, those many years ago.

Galen had it??
Darn, and I joined him and bill tatuem for dinner friday night. I wish I had known about the watch I would have discussed it with him, as I sat next to him at Ernies.

Had a great time with both of them. Great watch talk and their stories about previous conventions.

Food was pretty good as well!
