Fellow NAWCC members.: The new Council taking office in July will be very
busy with needed improvements in membership retention, revenue increases, and
governance improvements. (procedures manual and needed bylaws additions).
But we will be very close to the topics and caught up in the daily job of
"making all this work better"

But the outgoing Council concluded a little while ago that a fresh look at
the whole NAWCC would be a good idea. As a result, I will ask the new Council to
confirm a study group called the Strategy and Governance Advisory Group. They
will be given some broad questions to answer covering topics like "what is our
member constituency in today's horological world, and what services do they
want?" and "is there a better way to govern this Association?"
This is not a "gofer" group to chase pet ideas of the Council-- it will be
independent and self driven-- though you and I are free to make written input to
them! The Chairman will be Bill Lazarus of NM who shares the rare distinction of
attending many Committee meeting at recent National Conventions. He will be ably
supported by the following Group members, most of whom you may know:
Nick Bonura,LA; Terry Brotherton,TX: Wayne Preston,CA; Steve Sadowski,NY;
Clark Eldridge, IL; Ward Francillon,GA, and Doug Minty,AU.

Results of theis Group's work will be presented to Council, and to the
membership at large. We expect to get some fresh ideas and approaches from
this work, and I really expect Council to confirm these appointments.

Sincerely, Doug Cowan
pres.-elect.
