Hello,

I´m looking for informations about a man called William A. Swain from Osage Iowa.
I could find out that he was born in 1831 in NY and died in 1903 in Osage.
I have bought a Waltham 77 model private label with his name on it, and I´m asking myself why his name is on the movement?
Was he a watchmaker or jeweler?

Thanks for any help!

Have a happy new year!

Peter

According to the net he was born in New York about 1831 and died in Osage in 1903 at 72 years old.

The Swain family were very powerful folks in my hometown of nearby Peoria illinois. They were riverboat people and their boats many named after SWAIN's (There is still only plying the rivers there called the Julia Bell Swain) often went up and down the Mississippi and illinois rivers.

I wonder if there is a connection.

Hello,
thanks for your help.
If I get the movement, I will post a picture here.
It is really strange, that there are no further informations to find. Maybe I will find something in the next days. The easyest case is that he was watchmaker or jeweler.

By the way, I really love your "payment options song"
I listen to it very often, because it is really good!
