Don,
I can't help much but, out of 200 N size
I have only 2 in aluminum. I've heard there is a larger aluminum but can't remember the size (L or R I think). The first one I got
runs exceeding well which, for these, is about one in a hundred as well.
At first I imagined these were prototypes but realistically I suppose they were tried
out for a relatively short time and then abandoned. The N is usually the Addison size but both aluminun N's I have are signed Waterbury movements although
one has an early style Addison dial and one has a Waterbury dial. Steel pivots in
unjeweled aluminum pivot holes seems like a bad idea doesn't it? Still, only Illinois, Kelly and perhaps one or two other Co.'s tried aluminum so I imagine it's collectable.
Hope this helps.
