Hello,
I mostly just lurk here and pick up a lot of great knowledge from you folks but I have a newbie question.
I am thinking about buying this watch and I wanted to get some opinions as to what model it is and if it is correct or not. I know very little about Bunn Specials so maybe some of the resident experts can verify if this is the real McCoy or if there is something rotten in Denmark.
The movement:

I do see that the regulator spring is missing. It is not marked 60 Hour. Is that normal or has the train bridge been replaced?
The dial:

The case:

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Greg

Greg,
Not an expert.. This serial indicates it is not a 60 hour watch. It is a Mdl 11..from approx 1918.. And it should not be in a Bunn Spec case either as it is to early.. Hands and dial appear to me to be correct.. Regulator spring should not be to hard to find..

The 60 hour watches are later and begin in the high 4.4 million serial number range.
The watch you have posted is the most common marking and damaskeen variant of the non-60 hour 23 jewel Bunn Specials.

one 'plus' is that the movement is a first run movement.....
Production of 12K + movements...
the 'style' of the case seems a bit earlier than the watch... but i cannot tell if there are additional case screw marks in the images.
you do see the dial issue shown in one close up..
the whip spring 'can' be found.... but not in a *snap* ( to me anyway ) based on NOS Hamilton examples i have seen sold... expect to pay for it...
good luck.

These show up also at NAWCC marts, live auctions, and eBay so you might want to consider some price comparison with other examples of this watch as well. That might give you an idea of where this one stands price-wise.

I appreciate the input, folks. I have been keeping an eye out for them on the online auction sites and none have com up yet. I will keep looking, though. I don't think the watch is going anywhere for a while. (I could be wrong!)
Thanks again,
Greg
